A |     Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra has filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, seeking legal protection of her personality rights after discovering widespread and unauthorised use of her images, likeness and manipulated visuals across several online platforms. The actor, who has sustained a long, successful career in Bollywood and gained global recognition after winning Big Brother in 2007, is now pushing back against the commercial misuse of her identity.     The lawsuit lists 27 identifiable businesses, including websites that are alleged to have unlawfully utilized her photos to promote goods or increase traffic, according to information obtained by HT City. The case now encompasses hundreds of unidentified perpetrators due to the plea's inclusion of many anonymous parties under the John Doe category. The star claims that the dissemination of altered photos and manipulated recordings could damage her reputation and dignity.                                                                 View this post on Instagram          A post shared by Shilpa Shetty Kundra (@theshilpashetty)               Representing Shetty, Advocate Sana Raees Khan highlighted the seriousness of the issue, stating that the actor’s public image is the product of decades of work and cannot be commercially exploited without her permission. “No platform or individual can appropriate her name, likeness or persona for financial gain. Such misuse is a direct attack on her dignity and reputation. We have approached the High Court to ensure her identity is not treated as a commodity,” Khan said.     Shetty’s legal action follows a growing trend of Indian celebrities turning to the courts to secure their personality and publicity rights. Recently, stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Rishab Shetty, Hrithik Roshan and Akkineni Nagarjuna have obtained similar protection orders.     This case highlights the cocerns public figures have in the digital era. The risk of deepfakes, manipulated visuals and unauthorized brand endorsements risk the image of these celebrities. This not only blurs legalities but also ethical boundaries. Also Read: Shah Rukh Khan’s Birthday: Kajol, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and More Wish King Khan。

B |     Havana, Oct 20 (UNI) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez called on the US government to lift its decades-long trade embargo, or blockade, against the country.

"The US blockade has caused Cuba losses valued at 3.806 billion US dollars between August 2021 and February 2022," Rodriguez told a press conference in the country's capital Havana on Wednesday.

The call comes ahead of the Cuban government's annual submission to the UN General Assembly of a draft resolution calling for an end to the embargo. The General Assembly is scheduled to discuss and vote on the draft resolution in early November.

US trade sanctions, Rodriguez said, severely limit Cuba's access to food, medicine, technology and inputs on the international market.

"The world would be a better place without the US blockade against Cuba," he added.

First imposed in 1962, the embargo was broadened by former US President Donald Trump, who put in place 243 more sanctions, including banning all flights from the United States to Cuban destinations except for Havana, and capping remittances Cuban Americans can send to their families back home.

The current US administration allowed airlines to resume flights to other Cuban cities and lifted the cap on remittances, but the web of sanctions against Cuba remains largely in place.

For 29 times in a row, the UN General Assembly has voted in favor of the resolution urging the United States to end its embargo against Cuba.
